CantaNET
Cheviot Area School is a member of the CantaNET cluster of eleven rural schools in the Canterbury region. Together these schools provide online (video conferencing facilities) courses for students and teachers. The CantaNET e-learning concept is very successful providing a wide range of courses to senior students. Where there are insufficient students to run a subject, students may be enrolled to study a subject through either CantaNET or the Correspondence School. CantaNET is a group of schools in the South Island who have video-conferencing facilities that enable a subject to be taught to a range of schools from one site and currently 14 subjects are offered in this way throughout schools in the group. For subjects not offered by CantaNET, the Correspondence School can be used as a provider. Mrs M Burgess is in charge of Distance Learning options and any inquiries should be directed to her. She oversees enrolment, work completion by students.
